Interior Stair Designs
Trying to come up with some interesting interior stair designs? Well, you may be closer than you think to finding that perfect style.
Since interior stair designs are both nice to look at and functional, you will need to find a style that is nice to look at, yet practical. This means that though a swinging staircase may be lots of fun, it may not be so great when you are sick or in a bad mood. Sadly, most of those fantastic ideas must be thrown out the window in order to make space for ideas that are slightly more… grounded. Essentially, your options include: straight, spiral, and level.
Let’s start with spiral, since this is the most popular type. While this sort of staircase may be a great when it comes to your overall design, it will only work if you have a large home. Otherwise, spiral just doesn’t make any sense. Next, let’s look to the traditional straight staircase. Straight is good – it is functional, formal, impressive, and easy for any contractor to construct… only, it tends to be rather boring. This is where level comes in – level is one step above straight, but not as outlandish as spiral.
Level staircases are those that include three step intervals. Usually, these are seen mostly outside of a home, though they can be constructed inside of a home with ease. Not only are they practical, but they are also easy for people of any age to climb with any type of safety concern. Once you decide upon the structure of your staircase, you can turn your attention to the décor part of interior stair designs.
Generally, most people want to cover their staircases with some type of fabric as a safety precaution. If you do this, make sure to have carpet professionally installed. While it may seem simple to cut and glue your own swatches on those stairs, this may not produce an appeal look. Instead, allow an expert to do it and save yourself a headache, or opt for paint (while paint won’t prevent slippage, it will produce a nice look).
By now, you should have some ideas for great interior stair designs. If your home can accommodate a spiral staircase, this is the way to go if you want to impress all of your guests. If not, stick with the traditional look that has been working for decades.
