Interior Designer Facts

Are you interested in learning some interior designer facts? Well, there are a lot of intriguing numbers and ideas out there that may pique your interest concerning this topic.

If you are about to go into design (any profession, really) it makes sense to study the facts and figures associated with your chosen profession. Why? Knowing this valuable information can mean the difference between a successful life and one that is full of various complications. To begin, let’s talk about those interior designer facts that pertain directly to those people working in this profession.

There are approximately 60,000 people working as designers today (throughout the world). Out of those 60,000, the average person tends to work approximately 45 hours per week. While this may seem like a lot of time spent on the job, after fifteen years of work these professionals make up to $70,000 per year. However, the starting salary is around $21,000, so you’ll have to work for quite a number of years until you can earn a decent living – though hard work always pays off.

In fact, if you want to skip those beginner steps and head directly towards that salary that pays off consider working as an apprentice for a short while. Once your apprenticeship is over, you will be able to open up your own office. Often, designers that set up shop within small towns tend to create a strong client base almost immediately. Of course, you will have to be sure that you find the right town (scour town facts and figure for proper information concerning the economy), but this will not be too difficult if you spend some time researching. Other interior designer facts include some things that are far more humorous that anything else.

For example, did you know that there are numerous television shows, magazines, and movies depicting the professional life of a designer? Some of these include Designing Women, Cloth and Paper, Using Color, and Will and Grace. Also, some of the largest employers within this field include IKEA and Ethan Allen.

There are hundreds of interior designer facts floating around the globe, but the most important ones (concerning salary) are listed above. Should you choose this as your profession, it will really benefit you to keep up to date with those figures listed above.
