Interior Design Color Schemes
What would the world be without all those wonderful hues? While many people become easily frustrated by interior design color schemes, this process can be a lot of fun.
Have you ever been stuck in the middle of a room holding numerous color swatches? If so, then you know just how tiring choosing the right shade to go with your home can be. There are so many different paint colors out there that it is nearly impossible to select just one, but it can be done with a few pointers. For the most part, homes tend to look best if the interior design color schemes stay the same throughout the house. The first thing that you will have to do is decide what type of shade you are trying to achieve.
Do you want to line your home with pastels? Maybe bolder shades are more your thing… either way, choose either light or dark colors. Then, select a palette that will work throughout your home. For example, you may decide that you are comfortable only with muted tans and eggshells, though you can dip into that light pink (with a tan base) for a child’s room. Essentially, if you keep all the colors kind of similar you will find that things go a lot smoother.
If you are the type of person that loves a heavier shade, you can paint your home using those darker colors as long as you stick to one space. While you may decide that blood red is your favorite, it will only work if you paint just one wall with this color (an accent wall). Every other wall should be painted in a neutral shade to offset that one bolder hue. Then again, you may want to play with some tried and true interior design color schemes.
As a basic rule of thumb, silver and blue; pink and brown; white and black; and eggshell and white go together no matter what. The trick here is to paint a border with the bolder color, while reserving the other shade for the larger portions of the space. This way, you will have a completely put together room.
By now, you should be able to discern which interior design color schemes will work best, and which ones are better left untouched. Keep things basic with a few accents, and you will have a fantastic space in no time.
