Garage Interior Design

Believe it or not, garage interior design has really picked up over the past few years. People are realizing that this space is just another part of the house not yet decorated.

Though you can easily treat this area as an extension of your home, you should also realize that this space serves a practically purpose. Not only do you want this area to be tidy and neat, you also want it to store the lawnmower, car, and anything else that needs to be put inside. Then again, many people are kicking out all that equipment entirely in order to make room for an extra living space. No matter what you decide to do, garage interior design is easy to accomplish with a few things in mind.

Since this area will become a high traffic area, it is important to install carpets (if you are going to go this route) that are heavy duty. You may want to think about industrial carpets that are perfect for mud, dirt, and anything that may spill on the ground. Next, think about that shelving. Most likely, you will need a place to store lots of odds and ends, though it should also be relatively nice to look at. Replace those old metal shelves with wooden ones that include glass doors, and you’ll be able to store everything perfectly.

If you are going to place furniture inside of this space, make sure that it is tough. Leather, fabrics that have been protected, and wicker are all great options for this space. With furniture comes all of those colors that you have to choose from, and anything – other than white!—will work well in this room. Lastly, you will have to think about what kinds of things you want inside this space décor-wise, since garage interior design is largely about the accessories.

While candles and throw pillows are nice elsewhere, think about keeping this space true to its nature. Why not decorate with antique car items? Or, maybe you can place large magazine racks inside of the room in order to create an industrial kind of feel. Whatever you do will be perfect as long as you keep those tougher materials in mind (in this room, skip the silk!).

Go ahead and create your own garage interior design – when it comes to this room, you really can’t make any mistakes.
