Curtain Interior Design

Remodeling? Keep in mind that curtain interior design. The panels that you choose can either make or break any fantastic interior.

Interestingly, a lot of people don’t put any effort into choosing the type of material that they will place upon their windows. In fact, most homeowners believe that window coverings only have one purpose: to shield the inside of your home from the outside world. While this may be partly true, these panels are also part of your overall home décor. Just as you would never dream of painting your walls a color that really doesn’t go with the rest of your house, curtain interior design should be carefully considered.

First things first, all panels should touch the floor gracefully unless they are located within a kitchen area. This includes those panels that cover regular windows, bay windows, and windows of any other sort. Why? The longer your panels are, the grander your windows (and home) will seem. The next rule of thumb is to find a rod that will showcase the material that you have chosen. In short, skip those plastic rods that look rather cheap and select iron rods with detailed ends instead. Now, on to the actual material itself…

For the most part, you can never go wrong with silk if it is in your budget. Not only will silk really make your home chic, it will also stand up to years of use (believe it or not, this material is rather resilient). If silk is not your thing, consider wool, cotton, or lace – usually, synthetic fabrics do not look that great. Also, try not to opt for anything that is made from plastic as this looks completely unnatural. One last trick when it comes to curtain interior design is to try and create an illusion.

If you have small windows that really aren’t that impressive, line up numerous curtains across the wall in order to give off the impression that your windows line the entire space. If you have windows that aren’t too wide, layer your panels (a few different styles placed together will really do the trick). Finally, hold back all panels with specialty holders that attach to your wall – this will keep them looking pristine day after day.

Curtain interior design can be really fun to play around with if you take the time to figure out what you are trying to achieve. Don’t be afraid to choose strange patterns – sometimes, unique panels can really make a room shine.
