Asian Interior Design

Making the choice to redecorate your home entirely based upon Asian interior design is a big step. Before you remodel your space, think about the following style elements.

If you are in love with traditional homes that are full of large pieces of furniture and lots of accessories, you may not be entirely ready to jump into Asian interior design. However, you can ease into this style bit by bit simply by incorporating a few key elements. To begin, you should realize that this type of space rarely ever includes numerous items, so get rid of any clutter that you may have lying around. Also, if you are a fan of the knick knack shelf… it’s time to dispose of it completely.

Next, let’s talk about color. This style tends to draw a lot from Mother Nature, which is why you’ll find a lot of tans, grays, and greens within any space of this kind. Additionally, various objects that can be found in the great outdoors are often included – think about picking up some stones, water fountains, paper screens, and simple futons.  If you want to head to China (as opposed to the Japanese style mentioned above), the colors and pieces that you incorporate will be slightly different.

Chinese style includes colors that are much bolder when compared to Japanese style. For example, the Chinese love to use lots of vibrant reds and yellows. You will also find that Chinese furniture is often extravagant, and it usually includes highly lacquered pieces that are made from darker woods. If you want to add just a splash of this style, pick up some fine silk pillows and throws along with lots of wall art that includes Chinese calligraphy. Really, Chinese and Japanese are the two most popular types of Asian interior design (though there are others that you may want to consider).

If you find that you are not ready to completely transform your home, begin by adding just a few things mentioned above. An accent wall painted bright red, a few water fountains, some fine Chinese silks – all of these things will begin to add a distinctive Asian flare to your space.

Should you feel that you are ready to revamp your entire home, dive right into Asian interior design. Begin by taking away any unnecessary objects, and the rest will surely follow suit.
