Interior Design – Bathrooms
While bathrooms tend to be smaller areas, they are frequently visited. This means the interior design of bathrooms is something you need to address.
Interior Design – Bathrooms
Some people might not view the bathroom as a room in need of interior design, but more and more bathrooms are being subjected to the same type of design concept as living rooms and bedrooms. Although the bathroom tends to be one of the smaller rooms in a home, it is also one of the most personal. The bathroom can reflect the style of the owner and can easily be transformed from a place of simple utility to a showpiece of the home. The principles of interior design are needed if the job is going to be done correctly.
One of the major problems is space. Bathrooms tend to be smaller rooms. There are some items that could be put into a bathroom if space permitted such as a hot tub. Often space makes this impossible, but in other homes proper space management can free enough room to make this possible. Space needs to be considered in the placement of fixtures. A bathroom that appears open and uncluttered is much more pleasant than a crowed one.
One of the needs of a bathroom is the planning of the piping and the access to it in the future. Sooner or later, plumbing work will have to be done and ease of access will make this much less of a problem. The time to consider the difficulty of performing pipe repairs and plumbing work is during the planning stage and not when the work is actually needed.
Color is another consideration of bathroom interior design. Blue is considered a very clean color and also tends to cause relaxation and soothe nerves. This makes it an ideal bathroom color. The sense of clean is especially important in bathroom design and it certainly is a place where one expects to relax.
The last consideration is the fixtures themselves and the materials that are used in them. Items like mirrors and sinks should be made of materials that are easy to clean and resistant to moisture and constant steaming. A decision has to be made between a tub and separate shower or a tub/shower combination. Finally, the accessories from toilet seat covers to drapes should coordinate in color and decor. One advantage of interior design in the bathroom is that cost is usually less than would be encountered in other larger rooms. The bathrooms needs are actually fairly simple, but with a little bit of imagination, the bathroom could be the actual throne room of a home.
